shaina
Hello, my names Shaina if you may wonder. I am 15 years old and I come from a place called Kuigilnguq where I lived all my life since I was born. In my school, I like to study writing, reading, and Yupik. My goal is to graduate from high school and either go to college or training, but if I want a job that isn’t cheap, I’d rather go to college. I still haven’t decided if I should go straight to college or head to training. My career interests are being a pilot. I know it takes a lot of work to become a pilot. I know it takes a lot of math, reading, writing and many tests. But still I could become a pilot if I have the determination. Also, I’m interested in being a health-aide, helping sick people get better . My aunt always tells me that if I want to become a health-aide I would have to work very hard. She says that I would have to travel many times to take tests. My aunt also travels to different places to work in villages where she was assigned by her boss.
I like to go walking with my friends or 4-wheel riding with my friends or my relatives. Every time I go riding with them I always feel happy and wish that our happiness could last forever. I really love to go hunting with my cousin, my dad, and all the people I follow to hunt. I also like to go snow machine riding on our snow machine with my friends. We like to go water crossing or cruising on powder after snow storms. It makes me feel very excited and I always smile for a long time when ever we do that. Another thing I love to do is go egg hunting with my mom, grandma, siblings, or cousins. We love to laugh at each other when ever someone gets frightened by a bird. I’ve been enjoying staying here at KuC ever since we came.. The fun thing that ever happened this week was when we went swimming and then our supervisor John got tipped over by two girls. Another fun thing that happened was when we went kayaking and went swimming after. We had so much fun even though the water was cold.

Tabitha
Hello my name is Tabitha, and I’m from a village called Alakanuk, Alaska. Someday I would like to graduate from high school, go to either training or college, and become a pediatrician. A pediatrician is just a job that I maybe would like, but a great goal. I haven’t fully decided on what I want to become I do like kids and would like to help them when they get sick, but I still am not sure. Things I enjoy doing when I’m not in school or have spare time are hanging out with friends and family, taking rides and walks, boating, meeting new people, traveling, dancing, playing basketball, and having a great time. I arrived here at KUC Talent Search on Sunday. Since I’ve been here I had fun, met new people, went kayaking and had a great time. I enjoy the classes I take to prepare me for my future education. We have gone on tours, and I’m just waiting to go on the YKHC tour (which will probably be more interesting.) Being here is a great opportunity! You get prepared and have acquired knowledge about college, you meet new people, you have a great time, and they give you great opportunities, and hope for the best!

Jackie

You Know Who?

Hi my name is Stephanie and I am from Oscarville, AK. My career interest is being a Hobo, I joke. My career interest is becoming a nurse. My goal is to graduate out of high school so that I can go to college because I want to learn more about stuff. I used to like math but now I don’t and now my favorite is either reading or writing.

I like to help out my mom and older sis, with the house and going to fish camp. I also like to play ball and go swimming with my friends. My favorite part of Talent Search so far is going to class because it is a lot of fun and I am learning lots. Today we just wrote about a day in our school. We even played Mofia which was so much fun, but it would be better with more people. Yesterday we played a game that Ben made up. I was to shy to ask around but I did, only a little bit.

Tristan

Hello, my name is Tristan and I am from a southwestern native village called Kuigilnguq or Kwigillingok. I am fifteen years old and going to be sixteen in two months and six days. I like math because when I become a pilot I could multiply the weight of the freight and know how many pounds it totals. My personal interests outside of school are coming here to Talent Search, going salmon fishing, or staying my hometown and enjoying life as it comes. So far, my favorite part of Talent Search is when we to Hangar Lake to go kayaking, why I like to go kayaking during KuC camp is because we get to go in groups. That means trouble for anyone out in the lake because people can splash or get tipped over by my biggest brother, John.

Kwigger
Hello, my name is Megan, and I am from Kwigillingok, AK. I have lived in Kwig for fifteen years, all my life.
I love to hang out with my friends during school. My favorite subjects in school are, Writing, Reading, P.E., and Science. Hopefully, when I graduate I will go to college and learn some significant things. I want to become a health aide or a nurse, because I don’t want people to have health problems. My goal is to protect people from getting sick. That is my plan if I become a nurse or a health aid. The most fun thing for me is participating in sports. I love to play Mid-Coast Basketball with my team. Our name is the “Kwigillingok Eagles.” I will never stop playing basketball until I retire. The most fun subject at talent search ’09 was being on computers. I really like being on the computer because I get to type and check my other internet website. Another fun thing was playing a game with cards. I really enjoyed playing “Mafia” with my other group. Talent Search this year was a best year I ever took, 2009.

The Story

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Hi my name is Waska, and I live in Tununak. I used to live in Kasigluk but when my dad got a job over at his home town, all of my family moved except my sister Sherry. I like math because sometimes we take a short break and mess around with our work and other stuff. My goals are to finish high school, go to college, and after college I would like to a NBA basketball player or an army dude. What I like to do for fun is go walking around and play basketball with adults that are more funny than high school and JR high players.

My favorite part of Talent Search is going into the computer lab and doing work, and after work it FREE TIME!! My favorite part of class is that I can talk to my best friend that’s right next to me (on my right) and she’s fun to talk to.

A Little About Me

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Hi, my name is Victoria and I am from Toksook Bay. My parents love to live there and so do I.

My academic and career interests and goals are: I love to learn about science and I would like to study some science things when I’m in college. I would also like to learn about some math.

My personal interests (when I’m not in school) are just to hang out with my friends and joke around, talk, go riding, laugh, and go swimming when it’s a bright sunny day. My friends and I try to travel together.

My favorite part so far in Talent Search is when we went to kayaking because I had a lot of fun. This year is my first time to go Talent Search so everything that we did is my first time here. When we went kayaking, I thought I was going to fall but I didn’t. While kayaking, I was so slow and the others went fast. Well, I wasn’t the only one that was behind. My other friend waited for me until I made it to the shore.

My other favorite is when we go to class because we have fun games to play. Well, it was mostly about playing games. The first day when we went to class it was just about guessing or trying to figure out what this game was and the next day we played Mafia. After we played games we wrote about some things. We described the food and going to High School for the first time.

Welcome, Talent Search students
