MARY’s PROfile

Hello, my name is Mary and I’m from Toksook Bay. I’m here at Talent Search this summer because I wanted to be here and get a little taste of how some people experience the college life. The best part of this whole experience is that I am getting information I need in order to get started with my life after high school.

I’m interested in a health occupation. Someday I want to work at the Sub-regional Clinic at Toksook Bay and help my people. My family is really encouraging me to go to college, come back, and help our community. I have my parents and my five brothers and three sisters (all of whom are older than I am except for one brother) to support me. And speaking of having a big support group, our village of about 600 people, is very supportive and helpful when working as a community to get the youth to succeed.

My goal right now as a high school student is to graduate and get my diploma. But after high school I would like to go off to college and graduate. Then I would like to have a real good career in the health field. To be specific, I am not too sure of what I want to do, maybe Nursing. After getting a real good job, I would like to raise a family.
