Definition
Retention of materials— in an accessible, useful, and relevant form— over time.
Discussion
For better or worse, most media are only as current as their most recent contributions. But a sound set of archiving functions make material findable (and RE-findable) in a variety of ways. Weblogs, for example, typically offer multiple paths for accessing archived materials: by author, date, category, and keyword… and typically in a “search engine optimized” form.
