My First Elluminate Session

Are you planning to teach a class using Elluminate Live? Below are the steps you need:

Step 1: Prepare Your System for Elluminate Conferencing, find and activate your UAF (Aurora) ID, and print moderator/participant Reference Guides. Detailed information is provided by CDE: http://distance.uaf.edu/archives/research/subresearch/elluminate-live.php

Step 2: Complete the Ellluminate Qualification Guide. Detailed information is provided by CDE: http://distance.uaf.edu/archives/research/subresearch/elive-qualification.php

Step 3: If you would like help and assistance before or during your first session, please call us or email us, and we can schedule a Training Session just for you!

If you would like to learn more, go to the Elluminate website.

Now that you are ready to start, here is an example of how I (Zeina Nehme)would proceed:

Step 4: Send an email to all the students describing ALL the details and step by step procedures that you did in the previous steps. Include an Audio Conference number that you will all call one hour before the first session.

Step 5: Call the Audio Conference number one hour before first session, in case the students need help in setting up their computers and in logging in to ELive. So, it is safer to have most of the students on the phone before launching on a new Elive adventure!

Step 6: During the first session, it will be best if you ask the students to try the different features of ELive! PLAY! That is the best way to make them feel comfortable in using the new interface. Have a screen capture of the Student Elive window on the WhiteBoard so that you can show students and get them acquainted with the basic features of ELive. Then, give them few minutes to FREE WRITE on the white Board.

Here is a message a student wrote (Thursday Sep 7, Beginning Arabic Class, 5:10 to 8:10 pm):

“This is the most fun I have had all day!”
