Aim/Purpose:
- Provide students opportunities to get real like knowledge
- Encourage collaboration within a team
- Give students chances to have their voices heard
Design:
Before the session:
Step 1: The moderator prepares the questions
Step 2: The moderator provides group work instructions in the Student Guide & course code of conduct and emails or includes it as a document in Blackboard to the participants before the session.
Step 3: The moderator makes sure that students prepare a set of questions to be used in the interview of subject experts. and that the Subjects Experts are also prepared to be interviewed and on time for the session.
In the session:
Step 1: The moderator assigns a “Student Moderator” for each Breakout room. Participants are then put in small groups with their Subject Experts. Students ask the Subject Expert questions from their lists or anything that comes to mind. The moderator moves from room to room to assist as necessary and to ensure that students are on track.
Step 2: After the Interview, Subject Experts leave the breakout room, and students are given a set amount of time to discuss & reflect and work on their presentations on their Whiteboard (Effective Use of Whiteboard).
Step 3: Once time is up, all students are moved to the main room, and the “Student Moderator” is assigned to do the presentation. The moderator will copy and paste students’s works in the main room before closing the rooms. Discussion will follow about what they learned from their
